Historically, the Brian Ewing Memorial Golf Tournament was a fun event for men and women of the church and the monies raised were contributed to a fund to send youth of the church to Happening and Vocare.  This year the Men’s Club has decided to increase the size of the tournament and to raise funds to support the homeless.

As the plight of the homeless continues to grow in Columbia, we will honor the Second Command, to love our neighbors as ourselves.  We have selected two homeless ministries: His Hands Ministry and Pure Light Ministry, both of which are [A 501c(3) Organizations].  All contributions are fully tax deductible.

His Hands Ministry led by C.J. Bilka on average feeds lunch to 125 individuals every Saturday of the year at the corner of Huger and Hampton Streets. In addition, an annual Labor Day weekend picnic for the homeless is hosted at Finley Park.  Pure Light Ministry led by Hector Pineda provides dinner to more that one hundred homeless on Wednesday evenings at Finley Park.  Pure Light also supplies clothing, personal hygiene articles and Bibles to the homeless.  Both these ministries are spreading the Word of God through their efforts.

Expenses for golf, prizes, food and beverage will consume most of the $50 entry fee.  Thus, in order to raise monies for the ministries hole-sponsorships are critical.  The cost of hole- sponsorships is $100.  Our goal is $2,000 to be divided evenly between the ministries.  A total of 20 hole-sponsors at $100 each will be required to reach the goal.

Hole-sponsors will be acknowledged with information for tax records, and recognition will be given at the Awards Banquet and in publications after the tournament.  For each hole sponsored, a professionally prepared sign will be placed on a tee or green.
